Vitamin D3

As for other body systems, the immune system also needs special conditions under which all its cells can fully perform their functions. One of these conditions is a sufficient level of vitamin D in the body.

Numerous studies have found that vitamin D receptors are found on the surface of all cells of the immune system. This allows us to conclude that the effect of vitamin D is observed at all levels. In response to the ingestion of a microbacterias on the surface of macrophages, receptors for vitamin D binding are secreted. When vitamin D binds to these receptors, protein synthesis (cathelozidine and beta-defensin 4), which are responsible for the destruction of microorganisms, is activated. If the body less level of vitamin D, the immune system cannot protect it from microorganisms and the damage they cause - and a person becomes sick.
